All settings (such as the overlay size, position, opacity, and chosen background) are stored locally on your device using Android’s SharedPreferences. This information never leaves your device.
2. Permissions Used
The App requests the following permissions:
Draw over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
This permission is essential for the App’s core functionality: to display a privacy shield on top of other apps (e.g., messaging apps). The shield is a visual overlay that helps you hide sensitive content. The App does not read, capture, or modify any content of the apps underneath.
Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE)
This permission allows the App to keep the shield visible when you are using other apps. The service runs only while the shield is active and can be stopped at any time via the notification or the “Stop Guard” button in the App.
Notification permission (for Android 13+)
Used to show the ongoing notification that lets you know the shield is active and provides a quick way to stop it.
Storage permissions (only when you choose to set an image/GIF as the shield background)
If you select the option to use an image or GIF as the shield background, the App will request access to your device’s storage to pick the image. The chosen image is copied to the App’s private storage and used solely as the shield background. No other files are accessed or transmitted.
3. Third-Party Services
The App does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries. All code is either part of the Android SDK or openly licensed libraries (Glide for image loading) that do not collect user data.
4. Data Security
Because the App does not collect or transmit any data, there is no risk of your information being exposed. All local settings are stored in the App’s private storage area, which is not accessible by other applications.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
